Eurorail

We are a senior couple from Australia travelling in June on the Eurorail.?
Paris to Netherlands then on to Germany Italy and Spain.then Cannes. How can we find a site which gives travel times between each city and are there hostels where older people such as us would be welcome or are there inexpensive hotels where we can bunk down? We have waited so long for this trip.
Almost all hostels in Europe will accept older people, the only exception I know are the Hosteling International hostels in Bavaria, they still have 26 as maximum age, as far as I know.
You can find travel times and schedules on this site:
Enter date and time and the planner will give you a travel advise:
http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/fares_schedules/index.htm
This map will give you an idea about locations, so you can plan the best order for your trip the numbers next to each leg seem to be the time by fast train, the ones between brackets using the slow trains:

For hostels and cheap hotels I use the Lonely Planet guidebooks, I find them the best, trustworthy and honest.
Also very good touristic information, museums, sights, shops, and places to eat, drink, shop and travel tips.
I think the Western Europe edition is the right one for you:

If you travel in July or August you need to book ahead, outside that period you can phone in the morning or the evening before, some people even just walk in early afternoon when the hostel desk stays open.
An alternative site for train information:

If you have a couple of days spare, consider Luxembourg, specially the north-eastern part of the country. Charming.
