Eurail Germany

What is the best way to travel from Rome, Italy to Athens with a Eurail?
My partner and I have a Eurail Global Pass two months in Europe. We are hoping to use this right to come to Athens and then to places like Budapest, Germany, etc. We are curious about what is the best way to see Athens with our Eurail Pass, rather than adding additional costs related to flying. Also, if it is the best place to leave Italy to come to Athens? thanks …
