Should I get a Eurail pass for traveling?

I’m going to Europe in May and I need to know what the most cost efficient way to travel is going to be. I’m arriving in London and leaving from Berlin but I plan on going to England, Scotland, Amsterdam, France, Italy and Germany. I’ve heard the pass doesn’t include the UK and if we’re just going to major cities in each country I didn’t know if it would be beneficial to buy a Eurail pass. And even if I should get a pass, I don’t know what my best option is since I’m only going to be there for a month. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know…I’ve got only about a month to plan this trip and I’m realizing that it’s not going to be easy.

Eurail passes don’t include UK, but it’s cheaper to fly anyway. Check out easyjet or ryanair or germanwings. All have their dot.coms online.
You could get a Selectpass covering
Benelux, Germany, France, and Italy.
That’s cheaper than a full Eurail pass that includes lots of countries you’re not going to.
But look at the map! Going from Germany to Italy you either have to pass through Switzerland or Austria, so you can either: 1. buy a 5-country pass and choose one of Switz. or Austria.
2. Pay the difference to transit (choose Austria; it’s narrower and cheaper) or
3. (Best option) Plan your journeys to not pass through Switz. or Austria by getting to Italy directly from France.

If you’re traveling with somebody you can get a Eurail Select Saver pass for 4 countries (Benelux includes 3 countries as one) for the number of days you think you’ll need.
You can check approx. prices from city to city on http://www.raileurope.com
Add the tickets together and compare to the pass price (also on raileurope.com)
also check eurail.com because they sometimes give you an extra day for the same price.
To check schedules all over Europe I use Austria’s rail site:

Very easy to use.
